What is root canal re-treatment?

Root canal re-treatment is a second chance to save a tooth whose previous root canal has failed, reinfected, or was never fully completed — often causing returning pain, swelling, or discomfort. Our endodontist reopens the tooth, removes the old filling material, finds any missed canals (often with magnification and CBCT), cleans and disinfects thoroughly, and reseals it. At SmilePath Dental in Mansarovar, Jaipur, we handle tricky re-treatment cases so you can avoid losing the tooth. Pricing is transparent with easy EMI options, and you'll get an exact quote at your free consultation.

What to expect

We start by reviewing your history and taking a CBCT scan to work out why the first root canal didn't settle — often a missed canal or a persistent infection. We numb the tooth, reopen it, and carefully remove the old filling material (and any post, if present).

We then locate and clean all the canals, disinfect thoroughly, and reseal the tooth. A crown is usually needed afterwards to protect it. We'll be honest about the chances of saving the tooth — and if it truly can't be saved, we'll talk you through an implant.

Who it's for

Re-treatment is for anyone in Jaipur with pain, swelling, or discomfort in a tooth that already had a root canal — because the old treatment failed, reinfected, or was never completed. It's the step to try before giving up on the tooth and considering extraction.
