What is a microscopic root canal?

A microscopic root canal is a root canal done under a dental operating microscope, which magnifies the inside of the tooth many times over and lights it brightly. Root canals can be thinner than a hair, curved, or hidden — especially in back molars — and a missed canal is one of the most common reasons a root canal fails. The microscope lets the endodontist see and treat every canal, find cracks, and work more conservatively. At SmilePath Dental in Mansarovar, Jaipur, this is how Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, our microscopic endodontist, handles complex molars and failed root canals. What to expect

For complex cases we often start with a CBCT 3D scan to map the roots and canals. The tooth is numbed fully, then the endodontist works through the microscope — you just lie back while the magnified, well-lit view guides every step. Each canal is located, cleaned, shaped and disinfected, then sealed.

Because the work is so precise, it can take a little longer than a standard root canal, and very complex teeth may need two visits. Afterwards you'll usually need a crown to protect the tooth.

Who it's for

A microscopic root canal is especially useful for anyone in Jaipur with a complex back molar, a tooth with curved or narrow canals, a root canal that has failed before, a suspected crack, or a tooth another dentist has said is difficult to treat. It gives the best chance of saving a tooth that might otherwise be lost.
